Why Podcasting Is a Long Game (and How to Play It Well)

Hi Reader!

I just (finally) finished The Long Game by Dorie Clark—and I say finally because this is one of those books I could’ve finished months ago… if I’d actually picked it up instead of scrolling when I had free time. 🙃

The book hit me at the perfect moment. It’s all about committing to long-term thinking in a short-term world—and honestly, that’s the exact tension so many business owners (especially financial professionals) live in. You know big things take time. You understand consistency, patience, and compounding effort. And yet… the frustration still creeps in when progress doesn’t feel fast enough.

Podcasting fits squarely into that category. It’s a long game. A powerful one—but only if you stay intentional and don’t quit just because results aren’t instant. That theme carries through everything I’m sharing with you this week.

🎙️ New Podcast Episode: Is Video Really Worth It?

Only 25% of podcasters are using video—yet those shows are building authority, visibility, and trust faster than audio-only podcasts.

In this week’s solo episode of Podcasting for Financial Professionals, I break down what the data actually tells us about video podcasting (extracted from the 2025 Independent Podcasters Report, published by Alitu- linked in the show notes), why it matters specifically for financial professionals, and how to add video without turning your podcast into a second full-time job.

If you’ve been on the fence—unsure whether video is worth the effort—this episode will help you make a clear, strategic decision based on growth, trust, and sustainability (not hype).

🗳️ Quick Question for You (Poll)

I’m curious—and your answer genuinely helps shape the guidance, resources, and trainings I create next.

This week’s poll is all about batch recording.
Some people swear by it. Others struggle to make it work at all.

Take 10 seconds to answer and tell me where you land. Your perspective matters more than you think—and chances are, other readers feel the same way you do.

📅 You’re Invited: Live Podcasting Q&A (Feb 18)

This is your chance to ask anything podcast-related—strategy, content, workflow, tech, guests, video, batching, you name it.

And please feel free to share this with a colleague or friend who’s podcasting (or thinking about it). These sessions are designed to be practical, welcoming, and genuinely helpful.

As we move deeper into 2026, I keep coming back to this idea: most meaningful growth doesn’t come from doing more. It comes from staying in the game long enough—and refining how you play it.

Podcasting rewards the long-term thinker. The professional who’s willing to keep showing up, learning from missteps, and making small strategic upgrades instead of chasing shiny shortcuts.

If that’s you, you’re exactly where you need to be. Keep going.

Cheers 🥂

PODCAST SERVICES ACADEMY YOUTUBE EVENTS Hi Reader! This week has been all about reviewing, refining, and planning forward. While I'm betting some of you have been buried in taxes, I’ve been meeting with clients to close out Q1 and map out Q2 and Q3—looking at what’s working, what’s not, and what should be refined or where we need to pivot. And one theme keeps showing up: The podcast is becoming their BEST resource for potential clients. When they receive a fresh DM or meet someone with a...

PODCAST SERVICES ACADEMY YOUTUBE EVENTS Hi Reader! It’s been a full week over here—equal parts movement, milestones, and a little bit of chaos (the good kind). Our big fluffy fur babies just turned 5, which means… vet visits. And apparently, both Bernard and Bianca are about 10 lbs overweight 😅 So now we’re a workout family. They’ve been loving the daily trail time, and honestly, it’s been great for me too. I’ve restarted my 5K training (again… we don’t quit around here), and even on rest...

PODCAST SERVICES ACADEMY YOUTUBE EVENTS Hi Reader! Happy Good Friday to you—if you celebrate. We’ve got Easter weekend ahead, and in our house, that means one thing: the annual indoor egg hunt. Now that the kids are older, this is no casual “eggs scattered in plain sight” situation. These eggs are hidden in places that require actual effort to find… and what’s inside them is just as entertaining. Some have money. Some have candy. And some contain… questionable treasures from the junk drawer,...
